Ztoss mininano XJ 101 Charger

My Girlfriend bought this for me yesterday for my birthday.
Happy :)
This unit charges from any usb port 5v 500mah and outputs 5v 500mah.
It's battery holds 2100 mah. 2000 divided by 500 = 4. so you should get four hours of power from this unit. that should be enough to charge your phone two or three times.

This is the XJ 101 mininano. it is very small. in fact, it is smaller than my nokia n82 which it charges.

There are two LEDs on the back. If the power is low, the red led would light up.
when you charge it, the green led lights up to show that it is charging. when the internal battery is full, the green led turns off (even though it is plugged in).
here is the base of the unit. the usb connector is the female a type. it is for power output. this connects to the supploed usb cable for charging your devices. the small circular hole is for charging the device. it just happens to be compatible with the old style nokia connecter. so if you are currently using an older nokia phone, this unit will be very convenient for you.

Don't get confused. usb is for output, circle is for charging or input.
The Ztoss comes with a plethora of connectors
WARNING WARNING, this 'usb' adapter is 1A or 1000mah. it is not the standard 500mah usb power... do not connect ipod or other things to it. it is Ztoss only. I am assuming that it charges the Ztoss at double speed because of the high power output.
The adapter is solid with a nice feel. again, this adapter is only for the Ztoss.
specifications...
the power adapter is 5v 1000mah or 1A
the input for the ztoss is 5v 500mah to 1000mah
the output is 5v 500mah. (can somebody lend me a multimeter so i can confirm?)

ReCyko AA Low Self Discharge AA Nimh Battery Battteries

So Far, i don't know ANYBODY in malaysia who uses ReCyko batteries.
I bought a pack of AA from 1stop for rm32.

That is rm16 per AA battery. expensive? not really, consider that if you recharge it Three (3) times , you are BREAKING EVEN and after that, it's savings.

What makes them so different?
well normal rechargeable batteries Nimh USUALLY need to be chared BEFORE using them.

Personally it is not really a problem as such because i have a GP 15 minute charger. (yes fifteen minute :P), but it can be a little annoying.

Anyway, these ReCyko batteries, you charge them in a normal charger and they hold their charge.

Charge a few, then keep them in a drawer for when you need them.
In 6 months they lose only 10%. this is very good making them suitable for clocks, remote controls (aircon and tv) and other things that the battery needs to last a long time.

These batteries have made the AA Disposable battery obsolete.
ReCyko - save money and THEY DO NOT LEAK.
i think that is important too.
And they can be recharged a thousand times.
cost analysis.

8 AA ReCyko batteries cost rm128.
8 AA disposable batteries cost rm rm42

8 AA ReCyko batteries charged 10 times cost rm128
8 AA disposable batteries Replaced 10 times cost rm420

See the savings? and the ReCyko don't leak.
one year i assume that i will charge my batteries once in two weeks on average. this is 25 charge cycles. that is rm820 - rm 128 = Rm 700 in savings.

maths not bad ya?
'pandai'

The disposable aa battery is DEAD.

Ipod Remote control

This is an infra red remote control to control the ipod touch and many other ipods.
it has five buttons.: 1. Back
2. Next
3. Volume up
4. Volume down
5. Play/pause

I'm happly sitting on the sofa listening to my ipod though my Altec Lansing VS4121 Speakers and the song finishes. to replay the song, i have to get up, walk over to the ipod, press back, walk back to my chair and adgust my pants and sit down. Then the phone rings and i have to get up to turn down the volume.

sucks

Anyway this remote solves the problem. Just point and press the button. if there is no line of sight to the ipod, you can bounce the light on walls (point behind you) . powerful remote. and very responsive too. great stuff. rm99.
email me for details.

in the next photo, i have scanned the remote so you can see the size relative to the ipod touch.

Ipod Touch 2g Screen Protector

This is the one selling at the apple shop.
then should be 'ORIGINAL' in the sense that it is not a cheap one from china or something.

it costs rm30 with discount. (thanks apple ppl)

It has a strange greenish hue to it. when i first bought it i thought, dammit >_< this sucks, but after going to the prangin mall shop (Hippo) 3rd floor, the girl put some 'magic' cleaning liquid on it.

i say magic because she covered the bottle so you could not see the brand.
it had the *shape* and spout of a *ZIPPO FLUID* bottle .

I almost had a heart attack when she put it on a cloth and wiped it on the screenprotector.
" never use harsh chemicals"
but that got rid of the funny sheen.

don't misunderstand me, it is NEVER safe to use chemicals on a ipod touch. we were just lucky. i will never let my ipod near ipod fluid again.

who knows, maybe she just reused the bottle i'll never know

Linksys WRT54G and Ipod Touch 2g

Many of you may find that the ipod touch 2g and the Nokia N82 doesn't work properly with this router.

This requires a firmware upgrade to rectify the problem.

First go to your router's ip address. it *should* be 192.168.1.1, unless you have changed it :P

If your router is the same as mine (version5) the latest firmware should be 1.02.5 (which works well with ipod touch)
Second click on the 'Administration' Tab, then the 'Firmware upgrade' tab.

Now you have to go download the firmware from the Linksys website.

I hope this helps.

Oyama Hercules Ipod touch 2g external battery

This is an external Ipod battery charger that i got from my last trip to France.
It has an internal Lithium Polymer battery 2200mAh at 5v 600mah. That should equate to around 4 hours of power being out-put from the device. Should be enough to charge an Ipod touch 2g a couple of times. Price: 20 euro.

Photos:

This is the full set. charger, USB wall plug, interchangeable heads, bag and usb cable.
It doesn't come with a 'dock connector' but the one with the ipod touch 2g is much smaller anyway.

the USB miniplug is to charge the unit. do not plug wrong!

Information on the back

Switch to Digi : I will follow me! =P

I went to The DIGI centre at gurney plaza and filled out the forms.

Switching is FREE and you get FREE gifts. That's what i call a Win - Win situation :P

I gots a DVD case , a YCF (Yellow Coverage Feller) phone thingy and a sim pack.

About half an hour later i received this sms from DIGI:
"Your switch to DiGi is in pregress. We are waiting for your current service provider to accept this request & will notify you once we are allowed to proceed."

Mobile Number Portability

Look Look Now you can change from Maxis or Celcom to DIGI without changing your phone number :)

Mobile Number Portability
Oh, Yeah i'm pretty sure that it is cheaper.

I'm going to gurney plaza tomorrow to change to Digi .

Protect the Ipod touch 2g

Apparently, you cannot put a 'crystal' screen protector on the curved back of the ipod touch 2g.
The solution is to use a flexible film, something like the tint you get for car windows, but thinner.

Prangin Mall has a shop called 'Hippo' that has the film 'from Japan'. The shop girl is called Jo or something like that. She is really pro, and she used a blade to cut around the ipod touch and the power and volume buttons. I can barely see the edges of the buttons but she can somehow see and CUT with a blade.

Here is the name card and location of the shop.
Click on the images for a full sized photo

The shop is Level three near parkson there. (Under the fourth girl in the HP banner)
